I came across an Aloha Pearl for .50 cents at a market... she was smoke damaged and frizzy. I cleaned her up and she was going up for trades when a thought hit my head...
A woman I know is helping for free to co-ordinate the "chess match fights" for our Faire coming up in May. This is about 6 different matches that need to be coordinated smoothly and safetly. I'm one of the combatents and she's been so helpful and reliable...meeting up with us nights after classes so we can work, and going over and over moves til we have them down. Anyways she told me about her plans to do some really creative things to her daughters room... mostly involving faeries, sparkles, etc... (I may be helping with this, I volunteered lol)
Anyways, her daughter, age 8, usually has nothing to do while her mom deals w/ the training classes, so I ended up bringing Aloha in my satchel tonight... I asked her mother if she collected ponies, and the answer was "nope", I asked if this would match the decor? She was quite excited and said "oh wow!" I asked if it'd be alright to give her daughter the pony, and she was quite fine with it.
I asked her daughter if she liked horses... and sparkles... and she got this bright look in her eyes and nodded quite vigorously. Lol and those eyes widened so much when i held out Aloha to her. She took it and asked "Oh can I have it? Please!" ... so cute! I said "Yep, take good care of her." and she couldn't stop bouncing around going "Look everyone I have a sparkly pony!"
It was adorable and really just put me in a good mood. She spent the rest of the night playing with her paperdolls and Aloha, who got some lovely braiding done lol
I just wanted to share, it was cute, in that warm, fuzzy way... Anyone else got a warm, fuzzy story?
Oh and in case anyone wanted to see Aloha's condition here ya go, I wish I had taken pictures after her new hairdo lol!:

lol, any fakies I get go into a box, and every little girl(and some thataren't so little!) who happens to come over can play with them. If she has a favorite, it goes home with her!
One time I was helping my dad sell his train stuff at a local show, and even though I liked trains when I was little, I remember being disappointed when we went to something like that, 'cause everything was for boys. So I took this HUGE box of fakes and McD's ponies, well over 100, and every girl who went past us got to pick out two, 'cause it's no fun with only one!
For some reason, some ppl wouldn't let their kids have them, I just didn't understand it! Especially the little girl who wandered back frustrated and VERY mad because her dad got her a toy car for $12, but would not let her pick out two free ponies!

that is a wonderful story, makes me very happy.
i have an odd question, though...
I see you are in the states. What girl can make it to eight years old and NOT know about My little Ponies/?? I've seen commercials all over the TV, and magazines, and I live across form an elementary school, and I can see just how many girls wear character clothes(barbie, ponies, dora, ect...)

Just last week I gave a little girl that goes to my church a Pinkie Pie. I also work with her aunt. Her aunt was telling me that the little girl was only missing TWO ponies, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. I had a Pinkie Pie in my trade box so I decided to give it to her. Then I also gave her aunt the web site to the arena to help them track down a Rainbow Dash plus the address to Ponytopia and Dream Valley. I also told her aunt it highly unlikely that she has ALL the ponies. I explained to her about the Winter Babies and the Menards SLHs. I didn't go into Bay Brezze, the Pony Project ponies or LSPP. If she didn't have a Pinkie Pie at all there is NO WAY she has LSPP. Although, I don't understand how she could NOT have a Pinkie Pie. That pony has been released WAY too many times!
