BabyMedley, I hope things work out in your favor in the long run, but in the short term keep a hawk eye on your AMEX and an eye on your credit report (you're in California, so you can request a free copy each year of your credit report, in case you didn't know). You might be able to get AMEX to freeze your card and/or report suspicious transactions and put a hold on them in the meantime; I don't know if you have another credit card you can use until the whole thing blows over, but it would probably be best play it safe and freeze the account in the meantime. Identity theft is a scary thing, and while it's possible this whole thing was just an innocent misunderstanding, I'd be especially heedful of Mapago's warning.
My fingers are crossed for the best possible outcome. Good luck and take care.
Eternity

There was a request to post the end of the story, so here's what has happened since March:
Toyglobe.com customer service said they would fully refund the money, but the refund hasn't hit my CC statement yet. I have an email into them currently (no phone number to be found anywhere) about it. Just in case you know other toy collectors in general or if you collect other brands, I really would stay away from this site.
I reported fraud to Amex about this theif Alberto in Brazil, but since I willingly gave my CC info to him they said that they couldn't do anything. The letter from Amex said that the card is non-transferable, and I guess by giving my info I transferred it. (?) I was a little annoyed at the legal mumbo jumbo, but whatever. By the time the letter came I was tired of dealing with it.
Alberto found the message on here with his info in it, and sent threatening messages to myself and moderators. These messages just started this week (at least the messages to me started this week). They are hard to understand, but after 4 messages I got one that makes me think he thinks I was using his name to sell ponies or something. As if. Anyhow, I told him today that his identifying info was removed, that I was not using his name to sell anything, and to please leave me alone.
I appologize to the moderators for posting his info in the first place and thereby bringing you into this bad situation. I really hope it's now over.
Edit to add: No, I never got the pony. He said halfway through the ordeal that he found someone in Brazil to sell the pony to and that I could "cancel the payment with Amex". It became very clear very quickly that the auction was just a scam to get free Star Wars toys with my credit card.
Edited again to add: Okay, now I'm laughing. He just sent me a message saying that he was going to report me to Amex for "difamation" for posting "informations in MLP ARENA". LOL! Report me to Amex? What on earth are they going to do about it? Seeing as how he was already the target of a fraud investigation, I hope he has fun with that. What a wacko.
