The lady told me that UK sellers get ripped off by Paypal and that's why UK people stay away from it...? Sleepy

You Know what I think you need to read your emails I have been very patient with you after being called a rip off merchant! Cut the carcasm and either pay or don't I really don;t care either way. you chose to bid I did not ask you to.And for your information paypal is a total ripoff for Uk sellers which is why very few of us use it. Angry

She wrote me that. I keep everything. I never called her a "rip off merchant". I said that I did not want to get ripped off the extra 7$ and could we find a way to pay for it without paying the extra 7$ she expected me to pay. :nervous:

My beef is that if she will not accept MO ETC from the US, put a block on us US buyers. Selll to her own country. Why make everyone else's life miserable and screw up their percentage? Makes great sense to me!! Sleepy

She stated in her auction that she would only accept cash. It is up to you not to bid, or to accept her policy. I understand you are annoyed about the neg, but why should she block US buyers who potentially will pay her in cash and increase her sale price.

Yes her payment methods are limited!

Yes her payment policy is draconian!

Yes, it would be difficult to pay her if you were in the US.

BUT she tells you exactly what she accepts in her auction. It even appears in the auction due to bad wording that she'll only accept cash from anyone, UK or otherwise!

So, my question is, why bid and offer bank transfer, MO when she has told you she won't accepot them!

You did not have to bid! I know this sounds so harsh but, people get annoyed on here for bad descriptions, people missing stuff out of auctions, people not sticking to stated auction payment terms etc with no contact.

The payment policy was stated there, black and white, and you chose to agree to it when you bid on the item.

I misunderstood the auction, but once I give my word, it's done. I bid and tried to pay. Now again, she gave me less than ONE week to pay before I got the neg. As I was asking how to go about this sending a MO, two people in the UK on the Arena were trying to help me. I don't even know what a bank transfer into her bank would entail, but I was told there would be charges. Before I even got to ask her what to do, I got the neg. See, unless you are sitting right next to me, you don't know what I tried to do to pay her. I appreciate your opinions, and yes, perhaps a little biassed since you live in the UK and were able to pay her. I even tried FED EX. So sorry for posting so much. My only concern was getting her her funds. Just to let you know, even after she gave me the neg, I offered to pay eBay listing fees for her. Thanks! Big Grin

Although the woman clearly has extremely poor customer service (and has most definitely wronged you by that), there is nothing actually wrong with her payment methods Huh

We don't actually have money orders in the same sense in the UK. What we do have, which works in a similar way, are Postal Orders. You get these from the post office, and the seller can cash them at theirs. There is a percentage fee to buy them, but not to cash. These are available in some other countries, but this is generally limited to certain members of the Commonwealth (I can find the link if anyone is interested).

Money Orders are different. They cost a fortune to cash here. I myself will not accept them from anyone, due to the fees incurred.

That will be why your usual outlets were unable to help. I think even MOs in £Sterling would incurr a fee to be honest.

Ebay itself is partly to blame for a lot of the confusion on them. If you view a page on ebay.co.uk, it will state postal order, but if it is viewed via ebay.com, it will come up as money order. It does not work the other way around.

I've had the same problem the other way around as well... US sellers who only accept MOs - which I can't get since Bidpay went. Therefore, I don't bid Huh

HOWEVER, the way she has treated you is appalling and she definitely should not have given you a negative when you were trying to find a way to pay her. She's a name I will avoid for certain Hug

I tried that. Our PO said that they don't do that anymore. She also wrote to me telling me not to use the GREEN ones as she cannot cash them... BRB..... Smile

FROM HER: All major banks will issue checks in Uk Pounds Sterling. I don;t know why yours won;t I have this week received two from USA citizens who had no problems. I hve also received cash in a Federal Express envelope from another USA buyer who also had no problems. You can send cash by fed ex which is registered or a UK POund Sterling Bankers cheque I do not accept Post Office money orders as I cannot change them this end tried it before.

This sucks. She even called me a SkinFlint.. My husband had to explain what that meant to me! LOL

Sorry... I just reread my reply and realised I wasn't clear. In the UK, you can get (UK) postal orders at Royal Mail post offices. Some other countries do them, but I think it's only certain Commonwealth countries (the US isn't in the Commonwealth). You're not able to get them in the US anymore Huh That will be why she said she can't accept US Post office money orders (or the green ones) - fees are still huge.

I would be MOST surprised if she received cheques from US buyers done in pounds sterling. Not because it's not possible (it is, but it does get complicated, and there may be fees for drawing on an overseas bank account anyway), but because it really isn't a popular method of payment internationally. And FedEx is EXPENSIVE. Unless she sold several realle expensive/rare items, I wonder if she might be making some of that part up.

*shakes head at seller*
