|
Here is my mini rant. I scooped up 5 ponies on ebay for .99 cents each. For some reason no one BIN'ed them and so in the last few minutes I placed bids for their starting price of .99 cents. I won all 5 ponies for .99 cents each. Shipping was stated at $4 so I waited for my invoice to get the combined rate.
Shock! The seller sends me an email saying, get this, they took 25% off the $20 ($4 x 5 ponies) and my shipping is only $15 now. From Florida to California to ship 5 ponies Priority mail is only $6.00 ($4.73 for Parcel Post). I checked. I boxed up 5 heavier ponies with bubble wrap, weighed it and then checked on usps.com Some sellers suck. I refuse to pay that much extra shipping because their auctions did lousy. It's not my fault I got a good deal. You win some, you lose some.
If they don't reduce the rate then I will email them a link to ebay's policy about overcharging to make up for low ending auctions. Last resort I will turn them in. I really don't care if I get a negative over this. Thanks for hearing my (maybe more than mini, lol!) rant.
PS Oh yea, I can get them sent Priority mail, according to the seller, for $20 and Express mail for $50.

I know this seller, BM. They do it for ALL their auctions, even the ones that you BIN. I was in sticker shock, but paid it and even left positive feedback because I guess that I was angry with myself for not asking first what combined shipping would be. But I will tell you this, I will NEVER buy another of this person's auctions (even though my ponies were very, very minty). I just don't understand what this person is thinking. (And my parcel came and they paid a whopping $4.55 for shipping!)
I hope that they will agree to reduce the shipping fees for you.

Eesh. That's too bad. I HATE overpriced shipping rates. There are several ponies I've passed up who were being sold at reasonable prices with unreasonable S&H.

It seams the norm these days. I asked for shipping quoats on some Stress balls we wanted to get for a guy at work. Now they would be lucky to weigh 100g and the sellers quoated between $5 and a wopping $15. I make a habit of asking first these days. and if the Seller dosn't get back to me before the aucion finishes then too bad no sale.

That stinks, BM! I hope they give you a more reasonable shipping rate! Can you post the sellers ebay ID? I want to make sure I steer clear of them in the future!

Yes, please let me know their ID as well. I was looking at several .99 auctions and want to see if it's the ones I was really wanting.

Thanks for all your kind words guys! It makes me feel a little better.
This seller won't respond to my three emails now. I have showed them what USPS said shipping should be (copied and pasted) and I sent them (copy and paste) what ebay has to say about this.
In their email they sent, they also told me that I had 48 hours to pay. This was not listed in any of their auctions. There's no way they can do that. They are trying to pressure me to pay them when they know they have overcharged me.
I will post their name but I was hoping to get their decision first. I'll stay in touch.
Thanks!

I dont think you will be able to win the case and you will end up having to pay the amount the buyer stated. The reason is this:
The seller disclosed the shipping price in the auction. ( Said the price was 4.00 ) and you agreed to purchase the item with that shipping
and the seller did give a discount on combined shipping of 25 % which they dont have to do, ( Did they say they combine shipments for a discount?) In ebay's eyes they did nothing wrong since all of this was disclosed. And when you purchased the ponies, you agreed to those terms. There is a huge leway when it comes to the "Handling" fees that can be applied shipments.
At least, this is what happened to me when I was charged 20.00 for 4 ponies. Rule of thumb, always ask for what the combine shipping rate would be.
