Okay. Not having Paypal is really getting in my way these days. I got 1/2way through a transaction with someone, and they tell me they only take Paypal. I'm probably one of the only ones who doesn't have it!

What are the different ways I can get it? Do I have to have a specific type of email address to get one? Can I link it to my Savings Account, or do I have to get a Checking Account with a CheckCard? Don't CheckCards cost something per use?

I'm so confused, but I know that this is only going to get in my way further down the road. I'm working overtime this month (not much, but a little bit), so I think I should do it while I have the money.

Please help me with ANY tips/advice/information. ANYTHING having to do with Paypal. I *REALLY* appreciate it.

(moving to TS Smile Dragonfly)

I had my bank add on an "extra" checking account. It didn't cost anything, and it has no connection to my 1st checking. I did that so if there was ever a problem with paypal, it would just freeze that account, not the one I live off of. It has worked great so far, and If your bank would do it, I highly recommend it. That's a neat idea. I don't have a checking account at all. My job makes me Direct Deposit into an account (I have my paycheck put into my Savings; my only account).

Do you have to have a Check Card to get Paypal?

And I'm assuming you have to look up router numbers and account numbers, too. Hmmm... (I can never tell the two apart, haha)

I hope I can pull this off. Whew!

I bet if you went to your bank and explained what you were wanting to do, they would be able to help you out. They are used to this kind of thing.

What are the different ways I can get it? I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, you mean what are their membership optons or whatever?

Do I have to have a specific type of email address to get one?
You can associate any kind of working email address with your Paypal account. I have email addresses from my domains as well as from freeservers (hotmail, gMail) associated with mine

Can I link it to my Savings Account, or do I have to get a Checking Account with a CheckCard?
You can link it to either. Paypal will make two small deposits (like, 5 cents and 11 cents for example) into your account and when they come through you need to tell Paypal how much the deposits were for before you can activate that part of it. You don't need a check card with it but if you are buying something, the check card makes things go faster, the payment is processed immediately like a credit card instead of being processed as an e-check which can take 3-4 days for a payment to clear.

Don't CheckCards cost something per use?
Some do, some don't. It depends on your bank's policy. My old bank had Visa check cards that were 100% free to use but my new bank charges $1.00 a month for the same thing.

Hope that helps Smile

For awhile I only had a Savings Account & still had it linked to my Paypal. I signed up from paypal when it first started & you only needed to prove an email address & credit card (no bank info), so I'm not sure how signing up works these days, but I'm sure you can still get an account. If you have a booklet from the bank to keep your account info. in, they typically have your routing number & account # printed on the front. The routing # is specific to your bank; the account # is specific to only you! If you have a relative or friend who uses the same bank, ask them what their numbers are.... you should both have the same routing number.
Hope this helps a little! Smile

Hi Dragonfly- thanks for moving this!

I guess that question was a repeat of "Can I get this using a credit card, savings account #, or check-card?".

Another question- how exactly does it work? Is it easy to figure out?

So if I make a checking account, deposit a little bit of money in there (Like, $100), they will deposit money in there, and I message them back saying how much they deposited? Right? I guess I need online banking for that, right?

I had a friend who was charged everytime she used her Check Card. So now it's just per month, or free, right?

My bank has something like two-four people there at the most- very very small bank. They probably don't get many people asking about stuff like Paypal. Hehe. But I will try to ask.

Here is what I did. (From what I can remember Wink )
First, I went to my bank and told them I needed an "extra account". They gave me what they call a share draft, so I now have my savings account, my checking account, and my share draft. I can access all of them over the internet, so I just transfer some over when I can.
Then, I signed up on Paypal, using the share draft account numbers. You don'y have to put any money in it right away to get verified. Just sign up for it when you sign up with paypal, and in a few days, suddenly you have some little odd amount in your account. You tell paypal how much it was, and that's it. You do get to keep the cents, too.

Paypal dosen't charge you a monthly fee, but you can only transfer so much money back and forth between you bank and them a month. They also will charge a small fee to whomever recieves payments. So say you buy something off e-bay and pay with paypal, the seller will get charged, and likewise if you sell something, when somebody pays you, paypal will take a little. It's not too much from what I remember, but if you use paypal ALOT it can add up.

The sign up for Paypal is pretty self-explanitory. It shouldn't be too hard for ya. Smile I hope I helped a bit more.
