I bid and won a giant sweetberry weeks ago.
cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBa...L:AAQ:AU:1
I asked the person for delivery costs and she said she took it to Australia post and it would be around $20. So I won, she sent the invoice with postage for $20 and she said she would post.
Now 3 weeks later and still no pony I was about to email the seller but she emailed me(weird how that happens at the same time)
"you may been wondering what has happened to your pony? I am very very sorry but i have been sick in hospital. i am out today and a friend is coming to help me package up some items and then take them to the post office for me. it will be there soon, many apologies, kind regards
I just got another email from her
"Hi again, Just been to the post office, We packed your pony into a cardboard box and got told thatit would $103 for postage!!!! Anyway, if we repackage it in a big platic bag they will only charge $34. What do you want to do? Perhaps we could go halves in the extra cost? what do you think? let me know, cheers"
I'm really iffy sending more money because they said they were ill in hospital, I won the item 18th sept, they marked it payment received the 20th, yet up until the 5th Oct they were still bidding on things. Have a look.....I think she's lying & if she's lying about this what else has she lied about with the pony???...
I did a bank deposit, I know ebay rules they can't charge more postage and I only bid as it was $20 postage and thats all I want and have paid for the other big plushies.....
How do you think I should reply to her

I'd say it depends on the sellers rep. I would ask her to send it and if when you get it the postage is more then split the difference...Mine only cost $26 to post from QLD to WA..

That is a little strange I don't think I would pay more on shipping though because Ebay terms don't allow them to charge more than what they state.

Once I underestimated shipping costs on an ebay item. I thought it would fit under "letter size", but had to bump up to "parcel post" which added $12 to the shipping cost. The item sold for $15 and I had bought it new from a store, so if I took a loss on the shipping, I would have been paying the buyer to take the item off my hands. I had not quoted the shipping amount in my auction, but had given the seller the rate after the auction ended (he never asked before the end). We decided to split the additional shipping costs between us (which still put me at an over-all loss), and the buyer was happy.

I woke this morning to get these two emails
I think she sent the first to me buy mistake
"Hi There! Guess what! The My Little pony could still be yours if you want it. The lady who outbid you is in Queensland, and the postage has come up as $35, so she is rethinking her options. If you are interested, let me know asap, I can let her know that someone else is interested. thanks, hope uni is going OK....way toooo many assignments don't you think!
Then I got this one
"Me again, I have just emailed the last bidder to see if she might be interested in taking the item. I am soooo sorry about this,
If she is interested, sould you like me to organise a refund for you and then let her have it? I don't want to inconvenience you - or do the wrong thing, so I am pretty much in your hands at the moment...kind regards"
I thought postage was $34 but anyway I'm thinking of just doing this, getting a refund, something is not right, I trust my instincts so will email her now and everything should work out

What Nndemeter said. She quoted you $20, and you paid $20. its not your fault she didnt check with her actual post office. Ebays policies i believe are fairly strict on that (no making buyers pay for extra shipping if you make a mistake)

I think it all sounds a bit suss - with the dates and her story etc. As much as I know you probably want the plushie it doesnt sound like she has any real interest in keeping you happy and a seller like that I wouldnt trust to package the plushie up or get her there in good condition. Have you pointed out to her what you or others (eg AusMLP) have paid for shipping a similar item - cos I find if you call their bluff on shipping sometimes they will come around with a better figure. It should be that way but sometimes it works...
Anyways - good luck with it - I hope you can work something out!

Save those emails. Send them to Ebay. She gave you a price, and you paid it. Now she's threatening (in nice wording) to sell the item to someone else if you don't fork over more for shipping. The word I thought of was "extortion".

I agree with Issame, send the emails to eBay. If she sent you an invoice she has to abide by that amount. I've had to eat the difference on shipping, most sellers do at least once.

She offered me a refund with apologies but now won't answer my emails, if I hear nothing by friday & still receive no money back I will do that and forward everything all emails onto ebay.....at least I will get my money back that way, what a headache ~ I have a feeling someone has shown her this thread so hopefully she'll contact me

That is absurd. I've had to take a loss on shipping before, it just happens sometimes. I hope you can get your money back from her. That is riddiculous that she is offering your item to others without resolving the transaction with you first.
