PostPosted: 0    Post subject: Re: expensive transaction gone very wrong: what to do?

Id be fumming.

First things first--do you know exactly how much you can spend without having to pay duty? I know I have to be careful when sending out something expensive to the US, because even if I tick off "gift", they still may have to pay duty because of the value of the item. Was it marked gift?

Next--how was it packaged? Was it aparent customs ripped open the package and threw it back or do you think the seller packaged him that way? Was "fragile" somewhere on the package? What kind of materials insulated the doll? Depending on how it was packaged, the seller may or may not be responsible for item damage. If Customs did indeed cause that dameage, you can go to the post office and file a damage report and get all your money back because of their fault...the only thing is that you have to give them the damaged item:( (im sure this works with and without insurance..but dont quote me. it doesnt hurt to ask).

If you dont want to go with the above, id ask for a refund in shipping since it wasnt insured.

As a last resort, id ask a pullip owner if they know how to fix the feet. I think its possible. Ask either Loa or Abasca..im sure theyd know:)

Well, it seems like a nightmare..
I don't know if I have any good advice to give except from contacting the seller and try to get a refund.

Maybe the doll was broken during shippping but that doesn't really matter since you have paid for an insurance and it was the sellers resbonsibility to get it.

Have you saved pms that you sent and recieved? In that case it should be easier to claim that you did not get what you paid for.

Hope everything works out!

a fragile sticker was posted on the box, but customs DID NOT open the box. in no way. it was not opened but there was a customs declaration stuck onto the box reading "not opened" and the only marks on the box are from me opening it.

he was shipped in his original cardboard box and inside he was wrapped in tissue paper like people put into gift bags.

his box was wrapped in a small sheet of bubble wrap.
for the item i don't really think this was adequate.

and there is no insurance on it.
i checked.

and i have a suspicion he was shipped to me with broken feet.
i own a pullip and while i wouldn't take her into a mosh pit.. i'm not too "careful" when clothing her, she's not blown glass.

Unfortunately, the feet breaking off is almost normal.
It is NOT the sellers fault. It's VERY common.
Here is a link of how to fix it... www.requiemart.com/pul...ankle.html

It's one of the flaw's with the New Namu & with the type two feet.
It's more of a factory assembly error, or the packaging error.

Wow that's great that it should be fixable Smile

If you can't get it fixed I'd pm the seller. Just so you know though if you ever have to send an item back you can file with customs to get the taxes you paid back as well.

lol....I saw the same fairytopia doll I think Poke Tounge

I have heard that the Pullip dolls have fragile feet. I personally wouldn't know because I haven't invested any money into them yet. I would say a shipping refund or a particial refund would be fair.

The thing bout this that would get me is if the Seller knew the feet were broken prior to her shipping it or did it break During shipping. If the feet broke off before it was shipped and didn't tell her that they did, I would most definately ask for either a partial refund or a full. If you think you can fix the feet and want to keep him, I would ask for at least a Partial. Least you can pay back the 20$ for who ever signed for him. If it was during shipping then...well theres not much you could do I guess. Either way I would notify the seller that the packaged was damaged when you recived it. See what she says. Maybe you could both come up with a mutual agreement that will make you feel a bit better. Sorry to hear that it happend though Sad

Ok you wanted to bring this here so here goes:

This girl took more than a month to send payment. I was trying to be nice a wait b/c she said she didn't make alot. So I held him, and held him. And in the meantime I see her putting up want ads in the Wanted forum. So I finally get an echeck for part of it and her address says Canada. She never told me she was from Canada so I have to go and get a quote and recalculate. I told her $16 for straight airmail, no extras like insurance and that's what she wanted and paid for. She never asked for insurance or even mentioned it. The shipping itself was actually $15 and I figure the $1 can count for packing materials and box (which i did not charge her any extra for). I filled out the customs form with the real worth of the doll and marked it gift. I wrapped him in tissue paper, put him in his Taeyang box and then put bubblewrap around THAT and had the shipping box marked fragile.

I feel that I did everything I could with this transaction and that I was more than patient. And now she has the audacity to accuse me of breaking my own Filato and sending it to her like that. Just plain ludicrous.
I have proof of everything I have said and saved all the PMs regarding this terrible transaction.

I'm sorry about the tariff but we don't have that in the US and she never said anything to me about it or I would have marked it differently. I'm sorry that Filato got broken but I can't be responsible once it leaves my possession. The facts are that I mailed him on Oct 2 and he just arrived this past week so he was in customs quite awhile.

I have been in this community since the Arena was created and I was a member of the TP before that. My feedback here, other pony & pullip boards, and on ebay is flawless. I shipped it EXACTLY how she asked and feel that I have gone above and beyond already. I even offered to go down to my PO and see if there's anything either of us can do but after this post I'd really rather just wash my hands of this.

As I've said as well, Pullips & their boyfriends are nitorious for breaking. Even mine having been delivered MIB have been damaged. I've heard of people receiving no feet, or two left feet!
The Taeyang left Summer Skye intact, so I do believe it would be at the fault of the post office.

It sounds like it was packaged fairly well (considering how I've received some from Asia *eyeroll*) and if Summer Skye had lied on the customs form, and say had put the value at $20, the post office would only reimburse for that. If that was argued and one of you said "But it's actually worth $100!" you could be slapped with Mail fraud.

I would definately talk to Canada post and see if they can help. Smile
Good luck.
