Is it at least a sturdy kind of cardboard? The big playsets always end up on clearance eventually. I want her but I can wait until she doesn't cost so much.

It looked like pretty thick sturdy cardboard, it wasn't the type they use for the backcards of the single ponies or anything.

Thank god the ponies included I don't need/want! I bought the smaller castle because of the new pony even though it kind of killed me to pay $20 for it and I will probably buy Rarity's Carousel Boutique for $30 (even though I kind of like this set). I really think a cardboard castle is really lame (every generation has had a castle, a real plastic one!) and Hasbro's attempt at pulling one over on us. I have kind of thought that the G4 playsets were cheaply made anyway but cardboard?! Come on.

On a side note, has anyone noticed that all the Luna sets refer to her as a Special Edition pony? I find this kind of odd, like is she never going to be offered again ever? Canterlot stuff is already special edition to Target, why do they need to mention that she is a special edition pony too? I wonder if this bigger castle refers to her like that too. I know the styling and standard versions do.

Much as I kinda want a light up Luna, I can't believe Hasbro would produce a $40 cardboard castle. No, wait, I can believe it - but it still annoys me.

Guess I'll just wait until Luna shows up @ my local thrift store.

Ugh, what the heck Hasbo? If they made nice playsets for the G4 line like they did for the others, then people would buy them, even if they are pricey. No parent is going to pay 40$ for a cardboard castle. I sure as heck am not going to! But I'd pay 60+$ for a nice plastic one.

It seems like only city areas get new stuff early. Out here in the woods, we get things months late.

I'll be on the lookout just to see what it looks like, but I'm betting this will become a bonus set closer to Christmas AND go on mega-super sale near or just after Christmas. As always.

Well, Hasbro clearly produced the gigantic, cardboard castle box for their other unexpected fandom.... Cats.

As excited as I am that Target is getting so much new Pony stuff, I don't think I'll be getting anything except for the smaller Celestia and Luna 2-Pack and maybe the DVD.

Maybe it is because Target asked for a castle playset for an exclusive on too short notice for anything other than a cardboard one to be made. And perhaps it is Target that is setting the price so high.
