Well, Hasbro clearly produced the gigantic, cardboard castle box for their other unexpected fandom.... Cats.

Ha ha, you guys crack me up! Cats. XD

Okay, I am going out to do some shopping so I will swing by Target and take some pictures assuming they haven't sold out or something.

...Cardboard? Drunk

Actually that reminds me of a Berenstain Bears playset I had when I was little, it was their treehouse made out of cardboard. It was pretty sturdy (like board game cardboard, but some edges did peel) and it could be disassembled and folded up into its box for storage.

Of course, plastic would be the best material to make it out of, but until pictures come out, it doesn't sound all that bad?

Is the light-up Luna the same size as the shine bright Rarity and Twilight?

Why couldn't they make a Nightmare Moon figure?

Didn't they say in one of those Fair interviews that the reason they made the toys so small is so that they could have nicer playsets-- like a castle-- that were proportionally large in comparison to the toys? Because this... Cardboard... I can't even.

I'm not gonna buy it. Not this time, Hasbro.

I was so hoping for a real castle.... *Sighs* I had hoped when I saw the smaller set with Luna and the uni in the cardboard castle-shaped box that the "real" castle was a bigger set coming later, perhaps in time for Christmas. Now it looks as though we won't get it after all.

I think Hasbro is really trying to cut costs--smaller ponies, reusing the same molds and lineart, recycling accessories, and now cardboard playsets. On the positive side, I guess it's recycleable when you're done playing with it....

If it is game board cardboard that might not be as bad but it still is a bit pricey.

oh my god this is so lame and disappointing! So far the canterlot line has been a flop! Re-used accessories/ponies, underwhelming playsets, poor quality, items not worth the cost, and it just looks so half-assed! I am disgusted Hasbroken would do something like this, not surprised though, they are still a business out to make a quick buck.
I mean come on. Every generation has gotten a castle! I want one for G4!
Well, this saves me $40. nothing in that set is worth the cost. It looks so thrown together and cheap.

I would buy it... for half the price. :o
I want somewhere for my ponies to live, but not gonna pay that much for what is essentially a cut-rate carrying case that secures with...string? o_O

And to everyone who's not getting this, or the $10 2-episode DVD: WRITE HASBRO! Tell them why you're not buying it, or they're likely to come to odd conclusions, like that the figures weren't pink enough, or the flashy Luna toy frightened small children and Boston police.

Oh they'll be getting a letter alright. (Party Of One Pinkie angryface goes here)

ATHF advert fiasco reference made me smile in spite of all that, though.

I only have two complaints.

1. Too many non-pony plastic parts.
2. Luna needs a Fashion Intervention, someone call Rarity! I'm sorry but that little skirt is just the wrong colors for Ms. Luna.

That's all. If I got this for my girl, we'd stuff all of the sundry parts in a bag and give to a thrift store.

Oh...that's it? I was excited when I heard about it in a thread earlier today...but honestly....it's just cardboard? I would pay $40 for plastic, but not for something that is going to crumple if it somehow got water on it. I will build my own Canterlot Castle if that's the case.

On the upside, the light up Luna is cute : )
