Oh what a relief! Before the pictures were up I was getting a bit concerned. I'm so glad this is just a bigger accessory set, thanks so much for taking the time to go back and get the pictures for us. It's good thinking Hasbro is providing us with a storage box for all those accessories they want us to buy, and this one is so cute with the little drawers that look like dressers and everything. It would have been nicer if they had included attached ties for holding it instead of asking us to provide our own string though. :/ It also would have been nice if they had made it more clear on the packaging of both this and the smaller set that they were not playsets. Perhaps it would have been better if they had released these after the real Castle, that way kids would already have it and want more accessories for it. Maybe they are doing it to try to get everyone excited about the upcoming playset?
I do think the price may be a little steep though. I can see their reasoning... One pony and carriage before was $20, plus a Shine Bright which is like $7, plus a whole mess of accessories beyond what would have been included with them had they been separate, plus a reinforced cardboard carrying case might equal $40. But together as a package it does seem rather a lot to ask consumers to swallow. Especially as those consumers would be mostly parents. I don't think this is really something most collectors or bronies would get behind considering it's accessory focus, this is clearly for play.

So I just emailed Hasbro. It's pretty easy, just follow the "Contact Us" link on the site, It gives you a form to fill out. I asked if that set was the "real" castle, if a plastic castle was in the works, I also politely explained my gripes and said that I won't be buying this.
I encourage anyone else who is disappointed in this to do the same. If I get an answer back I'll let you all know what it was.

Thank you for the pictures Luna isn't as cute as I thought she'd be (or maybe its that skirt).
I'm surprised its not $30.
You know what this is? It's a carrying case. I think it's an ok product, if one liked tons of accessories and wanted a little storage and display place for such. I think its cute. I don't want it. But I think its cute.

I like this Luna better than the other one. Her eyes aren't so weird looking. Still. . . I wouldn't pay 40 bucks for it.

You know, with all the accessories and the carriage and how thick the cardboard is.... I think it's almost worth the price. Shine bright Luna on her own would be about ten bucks alone! I dunno if I would pay the full forty, maybe thirty two or so. I just do 't see it as all that bad. If I lived in the US, I might have broken down and bought it, but because shipping that thing would cost an arm and a leg, I won't. I's really like to buy the Shine bright Luna loose, though, but I doubt I'll ever find one ;.;

I found it today, made a sadface that it was actually cardboard and bought it anyway. It comes with a TON of stuff, and I really like the new carriage colors.
Something no one else has noticed: Luna's legs don't match her body in terms of color. *sigh* otherwise, I love all the stuff that is in it. And yes it is just meant to be an accessory storage box and not an actual PLAYSET, although you could use it as one. I would bet they're going to come out with a REAL castle that is released in all stores like Wal-Mart and TRU, and hopefully internationally

Luna Troll scheme:
Step One: Buy (1) Canterlot Castle Set and (1) pegasus Shine Bright Pony
Step Two: Open both packages, exchange extra Shine Bright Pony for Luna
Step Three: Return Canterlot Castle Set to Store and get refund (Hoping return counter people won't notice the wrong pony in the set)
Step Four: Pray for your soul for you have SINNED. XP
That'll show Hasbro! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

It reminds me of a retro dollhouse. I actually like it and probably will buy it because of all the accessories, and I am relieved it's not a stupid facade playset like the others (c'mon Hasbro! Make a REAL playset!)
But I HOPE it's not taking the place of a bigger plastic castle! Every generation got a big awesome castle.....this one doesn't cut it.
Sorry Hasbro I think you cut too many corners on this one. Please make us a real castle.

Can't say i like shine bright Luna. The colors of her ''cape-thing'' don't really fit her. (Pink, what a surprise)... I'll stick to the non shine bright version.

Hmmm, it seems like somepony's missing . . . Somepony who is one of the mane six. (No, she is not on the narrow sides, Rarity and Scootaloo have that honor.)
And, yes, it really is $40. I took pictures of it away from the Canterlot display, though, because there was an employee hanging around and sometimes they don't like people taking pictures.
I was wrong about it not saying Luna's name--it says it on the sticker next to her that says "Press the button!" And it actually is two stories, not three like I thought . . . I was just remembering how tall it was compared to light-up Twilight and Starbeam Twinkle's "castle."
~*~
Sorry if this is old news! Also sorry I don't have any pictures--that will teach me not to bring a camera when I go pony shopping!
Anyway. Target now has a set called "Canterlot Castle". Frankly I'm disappointed because the "castle" is CARDBOARD. I mean, it does have rugs printed on the "floor", etc, but still . . . cardboard? Cardboard. And it costs $40.
It comes with Shine Bright Princess Luna (her wings light up--her horn doesn't), Spike the dragon, and non-light-up Pinkie Pie.
Pinkie Pie is in the "bent knee" pose rather than the "all hooves standing flat" pose. Otherwise she looks like "normal" Pinkie Pie. Spike is in the same pose we've seen him in before. Oddly, neither Luna nor Pinkie Pie's name appear anywhere on the box. O_o There's just the same blurb about Princess Celestia living there and all the ponies wanting to visit there that's on all the Canterlot merchandise.
There are a lot of accessories, at least some of which were from the G3 Ponyville line. There's also a pink recolor of the mouse that comes with single-version Pinkie Pie, the carriage that comes with that one set with Rarity, the telescope from the G4 balloon set, some barrettes, Ponyville fridge, a little vanity (I think it's also Ponyville), a treasure chest, and other accessories I can't remember offhand. Lots of accessories, but nothing mind-blowing.
I didn't buy it because, well, $40!! It's at the Target in Seattle in Northgate Mall, if any Seattlites are interested. Oh, and they also have bedsheets and the new plush Twilight. I did not see the main six in dresses set, though. |
That's not a wedding, what the Canterlot Toy collection is trying to re-enact The Great Galloping Gala itself. Is everypony watched the season 1 finale? There's was a pony playing the piano, if i can remember that.

The Royal Wedding thing is a joke. Nothing more nothing less.
I think I'd want a real castle for the renactment ofthe Grand Galloping Gala.

**Sighs** yeah, $40 is a bit pricey for me for it... If it was half the price, sure... Oh, well... You know it'll eventually go on clearance...I'll just have to hold my horses (HAHAHAHA! See what I did there?) until it does.
Thanks for posting pictures!!!!!
