Posted this in another thread, but thought I'd post here too so I can show off my little haul!

Picked up a bag of ponies, sight-unseen, from a local selling group a few weeks ago. Bit of a mixed bag as you'll see. Pretty much every pony was grotty! The only one that didn't need intensive cleaning was the Baby Celebrations one!

I'll start with the Hasbro Ponies and post the fakies after.

Cleaned Ponies:

All%20of%20the%20above%20had%20to%20have%20intensive%20treatment;%20boiling%20with%20Oxy%20powder!%20Worked%20a%20lot%20better%20than%20standing%20and%20trying%20to%20squeeze%20all%20those%20pony%20blackheads%20out%20with%20hot%20water%20and%20my%20nails!%20I'd%20recommend%20that%20method%20to%20anyone,%20just%20make%20sure%20you%20keep%20an%20eye%20on%20the%20water%20level%20or%20else%20you%20might%20end%20up%20with%20a%20Phantom%20Pony!%20;) Poesy%20also%20had%20a%20hell%20of%20a%20lot%20of%20rust%20inside%20her%20whole%20body,%20it%20was%20gruesome!%20Cleaned%20her%20out%20as%20best%20I%20could%20and%20cleaned%20the%20rust%20from%20the%20tail.%20She's%20got%20a%20stain%20on%20her%20other%20side%20that%20I%20can't%20get%20off%20though.%20But%20she%20looks%20OK%20from%20the%20side%20shown%20above! This%20one's%20in%20mid%20restoration,%20hence%20the%20filler%20on%20the%20front%20legs.%20I'll%20do%20my%20best,%20but%20I%20fear%20she's%20beyond%20repair.%20She%20might%20end%20up%20being%20painted%20white,%20blue%20and%20pink%20and%20being%20resexed%20and%20renamed%20Swift%20Wind!%20 Update:%20Bought%20some%20spot%20cream%20last%20week%20and%20am%20trying%20that%20method%20to%20remove%20the%20bad%20marks%20that%20didn't%20come%20out%20with%20intensive%20Oxy%20treatment.%20Will%20update%20if%20I%20manage%20to%20restore%20this%20one%20or%20not. Baby%20was%20pretty%20clean,%20so%20he%20didn't%20really%20need%20any%20cleaning.%20I%20just%20gave%20him%20a%20bath%20and%20a%20hair%20wash.%20Can't%20get%20his%20mane%20to%20stay%20down%20though,%20even%20with%20dampening%20down%20and%20holding%20with%20a%20hair%20band.%20 These%20were%20also%20nice%20and%20clean,%20for%20the%20most%20part.%20I've%20since%20noticed%20that%20Sister%20pony%20(name%20escapes%20me)%20has%20some%20light%20tail%20rust.%20I'll%20add%20that%20to%20my%20list%20of%20things%20to%20do!%20Otherwise,%20she's%20quite%20clean. This%20one%20I%20picked%20up%20in%20a%20charity%20shop%20some%20months%20ago.%20I%20have%20no%20idea%20where%20she%20came%20from%20but%20she's%20blue%20one%20side%20and%20grey%20the%20other%20and%20has%20a%20magnet%20on%20one%20hoof.%20Need%20to%20clean%20this%20one%20up%20along%20with%20a%20G3%20Rainbow%20Dash%20I%20discovered%20languishing%20at%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%2049p%20bin%20in%20the%20YMCA%20the%20other%20day! And%20these%20are%20the%20fakies: I%20was%20going%20to%20shift%20all%20the%20fakies%20as%20they're%20not%20really%20my%20thing,%20but%20I%20was%20having%20a%20chat%20with%20a%20couple%20of%20the%20guys%20on%20my%20(much%20more%20blokey!)%20forum%20and%20we've%20hit%20on%20a%20rather%20interesting%20idea:%20Battle%20Pony%20and%20Panth-Ony!%20for%20the%20uninitiated,%20that's%20Battle%20Cat%20and%20Panthor%20from%20Masters%20of%20the%20Universe!%20I've%20seen%20people%20do%20Bat-Pony%20and%20the%20like%20so%20I%20think%20it'd%20be%20fun!%20My%20other%20great%20loves%20are%20Ghostbusters%20and%20Green%20Lantern%20so%20I%20have%20a%20sneaking%20suspicion%20that%20most%20of%20the%20other%20fakies%20I%20have%20will%20receive%20similar%20treatment%20to%20these%20two!%20;) And%20then%20there's%20this%20weird%20dragon-type%20thing!

Have no idea what this is from. It's got Zapf (SP? Don't have the thing in front of me to check!) Creations written on it, but I've Googled and I can't find it anywhere. I'm going to remove the hair and tweak it a bit as I think it would make a nice little dragon if repainted.

Haven't cleaned any of those up as yet, so sorry for their tattyness.

So that's my little haul (except for the blue/grey one). They were all filthy but I think they've all cleaned up rather well, bar Sprinkles. She's missing a lot of hair (compounded by myself, I have to admit; a tuft came out during the deep cleaning process), she has bite marks on her front legs, which I've filled with modelling putty and she's got ground-in dirt on her face. She's got Biro all over her too, so I fear the worst.

Will update with cleaned Rainbow Dash and that mystery one with the magnetic hoof when I've done them.

Oh, poor sprinkles! I love that you are restoring them, though! Love seeing a good restore! Oh, and about the cream, I've heard that it can severely whiten the pony, so I'd be careful. There may be others here more experienced than I am, however. Good luck! And congrats on your haul!

I think the cream is just a much more gentle form of Retr0bright, so I should be OK if I keep an eye on it. To be honest, she's in such poor condition that if she does whiten it won't really be doing that much more harm, sad to say. But I'd hate to not try when she's so pretty! I've always been a sucker for the unicorn and pegasus ponies.

Thanks all. I'm really happy with the way they came out. Not too sure if I'll be keeping them all as I'm really only into G1 ponies (although I did crumble the other day and bought a couple of the little G3's!), so the two with the moving parts might be moved on.

And thanks to Sora for the heads up re the dragon thing that turns out to be dinosaur! Who knew?! No wonder I couldn't find the thing anywhere. Heh heh!

Congrats and good job cleaning them up. I wish I had the patience for it.

I found it quite therapeutic to be honest, if somewhat macabre! There's something sinister about watching a decapitated pony head slowly spinning in a pot of boiling, Oxy-infused water.
