That reminds me of my Argie white Baby Starbow; she has the same effect; parts of her look painted and there's a scratch on her which shows the same colour underneath...I think someone made a post in the past about the same Argie case; wonder if there's some connection there?

how odd that she is painted .... she looks too pale to be french seashell as french seashell is quite a dark lilac. the symbols eyes, hairline and hoof mark say she is french though.

LOL - maybe she faded over the years and the previous owner repainted her?
but personally I would think prototype maybe too.

This might be a bit of a stretch, but maybe the color of the plastic got funky when molded in the factory and they just painted her over to cover it up, so she still would be salable.

My Frenchie Seashell has a lot sharper edge on the Made in France stamp... I mean that the stamping has been made a bit deeper and the text in mine isn“t still as clearly defined as that one...
That really starts to look like a possible prototype pony that one.

Huh. I'm really starting to wonder if she's a prototype too. At first I thought she was a custom, but her symbols and diamond look stamped, like a normal pony would..same with her eyes..it's just that paint chipping that is throwing me off.
curiouser and curiouser! I really wish I had a second one to do a comparison!

I'm convinced this girl is a prototype. Her hair is factory woven in, her tail is done the same way as a french tail. Her body color is most definately a factory seashell color, it's darker and more grey than the paint job.
Part of her head is still bonded to her body, but I was able to pop it off just enough to peek inside of her head to notice her hairline.
Her eyes, symbol and blaze are very obviously stamped on like they would be in a Hasbro factory! The painting in between and around her hair plugs is flawless! She's also been painted around the neck plug too.
I think I might have to hunt down another french seashell to take definitive comparison pictures with. Anyone have one they want to sell me? LOL

hmmm... I wouldn't say she's a prototype. For two of reasons; 1) They already had a HK seashell, why did they need to make a prototype? 2) If she would have be a prototype she would have had painted eyes, IMO. 3)
Also, her body inside is the same color as the outside color. So My theory might no be so off. Another theory is that she was a first test, but that doesn't explain her body re-paint.
She's quite a mystery!

That's very true Yum-Yum. She's just so strange! I wish I knew what she was all about! XD
maybe she was one of those ponies that they painted up for the catalogs?
I just don't see it worth being the worker's time or even the money to pay people to paint a bunch of ponies like that, you know?

thank you for those extra details panda
she really is a speical pony i have to agree that her symbols, eyes and blaze do look factory. it does not look like some one has painted round them. her paint job looks VERY smooth too, which is not easy to achieve.
