I thought the pony mod scene would be fun but apparently it's not. I might hang around the fanart scene for a while. It's more my speed

Welcome to the Arena. Best of luck "modding", I am more used to calling it customizing. G3's are great to start with for that. You have some neat art and I look forward to seeing what you get up to. As to age, no jokes here as I am almost twice your age.

We do have a ton of FiM Fans who are not teenagers here so no worries that way either.

We do have some members here that seem to think that customizing a G1 pony is strictly taboo no matter their condition. I am sorry that they have made you think that customizing is not fun!

I say if the pony is in bad shape and is common, there is no reason why you should not give it new life There are many members here who feel the same way.

Despite either way of thinking, please do not let those people discourage you from trying

I second what Oneleo1 said. There's so much to enjoy here in the forum. Everyone will have different opinions on so many different things, you mustn't let what some people think put you off. Fortunately this place has a wonderful way of embracing all aspects of the pony world. Dive right on in!

Yeah, I donno. I want to give G1 ponys a 20 foot pole distance but alot of Nz's auctions are for them I think. It's hard to find a good size bundle for a good price that isn't mostly G1s. Frankly, I don't know what I'm looking for and people keep growling me which ever way I go.

I've gotten a Fony Pony (a knock off) which looks like crap and frankly, it costs more than the real thing does, but no one is going to complain if I screw it up.



That's the Fake pony. Yup- that's right. The head is half off already, and the fringe in the mane is moulded plastic. I don't know if this is what America has or if there are better fake ponies out there but I paid $4 for this. I could've gotten a REAL used MLP for that on trademe :/

I'm starting to see the major difference though. 1 row of hair versus 4 rows makes a HUGE difference. I might make a row either side to make up for it. The fringe... I dont' know what to do with that. I'll see if I can fix how the head sits, otherwise i'll glue it on permanent and make do. I have... some room there. IT sucks but that's a knock off for you I guess XD

Think it's worth me putting my virgin attempts at pony modding in the Customs? or under Pony art or here? I'd like advice, but I don't want the pros going ape at me for comitting Pony felonies with everything I do :/

How do I tell the G3s? I couldn't even tell that my 'Cuddles' was G1! Lol... It makes sense that I got into it in G1. The 80s and 90s was when all the good cartoons came out I'm surprised that I missed G2 and 3 though O.o

kiwimlp's right - it's hard not to get excited and have heaps of questions when you're a bit fresh to the world of MLP There are some great websites out there you can check out to get familiar with it all, I learned heaps that way! I'm a G1 collector myself, and find the below useful

I think you'll be fine posting beginner projects in the customs - you won't be the first one to have started from scratch! I think some people just get a bit grumpy when non-baity G1's in particular are customised (G1 being the first 10ish years release of MLP - the truly vintage ones, and baity generally meaning a pony beyond decent restoration). Most people really will be supportive, and helpful if you have questions or want to toss around ideas I'm not a customiser myself, but I do admire some of the amazing things people do with ponies!

Oh man- there are alot of us Kiwis! Thanks you guys! This is a great help ^^ I'm going to have a reads of the site rules after a sleep on specifically the etiquette stuff. I know the rules on how to be a good forumer (Some I've broken here even though I know better. I promise I'll clean up my act T.T), but the collectors market has a whole new set of rules I didn't see coming. I don't want to offend anyone, and hopefully it'll keep me out of trouble in future
