Hey everybody! My name is Didgey. I'd joined a few days ago but haven't had time to really sit down and introduce myself with all of the holiday festivities going on lately. Speaking of, I hope everybody had a great holiday. :3
I'll just fill this little form out, since it seems easiest!
Personal:
Roughly how old are you?
I'm 23.
Approxiamately where do you live? State, Country?
In the US, in Florida.
Do you work or attend school? Profession or major?
I'm currently going to classes at my local community college to get a degree in the arts.
Who are the important people in your life?
My mother is most important to me, I've always felt very close to her. We have such similar interests too, so sometimes we're more like friends, ahaha.
Ponies:
How long have you been collecting?
I'm sure like most people on here, my pony love started in childhood. I was the youngest out of four kids, and I had two sisters who would always give me their hand-me-downs. So between three girls growing up in the 80's-90's, I'm sure you can imagine plenty of ponies around.
I can't tell you with 100% sureness which pony was my first or which ones I loved best as a kid, to be honest most of them I can't even remember. I do, however, remember having a Starshine G1 pony, but I had never known what her name was actually supposed to be as a kid. I just called her new names based off whatever adventure I was having, and since she was white she was the unfortunate victim of my creativity... and crayons. I no longer have the specific one I grew up with, but a Starshine was one of the first ponies I purchased for my new collection, which I started just a few months ago.
Which generations of ponies do you collect? G1, G2, G3 or G4?
I love all generations, honestly. I haven't actually seen many G2 ponies that I was smitten with, but I'm sure there's one out there I'd have to have. I like G1's because they're just so timeless and classic. G3 ponies I like because they play on the classic look but yet are totally different. I don't really like the G3.5 ponies though, something about them isn't quite right. However, I do love the total redesign on the G4 ponies, especially the larger fashion ponies. I think every generation has it's weird flaws, but that's part of the charm.
What made you want to collect ponies?
I've been making polymer clay jewelry online for about a year now to help generate some income since I'd been having a hard time finding work in my area. Well I do many commissions and one day I was asked to do a Rainbow Dash (G4) necklace. I'd no idea there was such a renewal in MLP toys and the show and everything, so I was of course curious, since I remembered ponies from my childhood. So I looked it up, watched the series, went back and watched the old MLP episodes I grew up with and it just sort of started with buying one G4 pony (Rarity) and has grown from there. I love collecting things and I've always been a fan of displaying the cute and colorful, so it just seemed to naturally come right back to me.
I'm also totally enthralled in the idea of customizing ponies, and I've just started working with my own customs. I've always been artsy-fartsy and I love learning new techniques and new weird things to do to get something cool and interesting, so customizing ponies just appealed to be so greatly. Which is how I found this forum! I was looking for baits and information on good places to find supplies, and this was one of the first resources that popped up and I thought it looked like a wonderful community to join.
Tell us about your collection.
My collection is relatively small, since I really did just start building it about two months ago. It's sort of an odd mix at the moment, mostly G4 ponies since I can pick them up at Target/Wal-Mart when I go grocery shopping. And of course a Starshine, as I mentioned!

I just got a shelf to hold them and display them, but I've yet to hang it up. When I get it up, I'll gladly post a picture of my current treasures.

I hope that gives some good insight! I'd love to make some new pony friends here and I like how friendly it seems here. I have two customs I've made so far, so once the sun comes out I can take some photos and share those with everybody as well.

Thank you for reading!
