I'm sorry if this shouldn't be in here, I wasn't quite sure what forum this belonged in.

But the other day i was walking around Meijer and I saw "Barbi Designable Hair"

Basically its paper strips with a solid row of hair on them that you can feed into your printer and then print some design onto. at first I thought, "what on earth" but then I realized that it might be possible to use these with custom ponies xD

there is a small sample of hair on the front of the box and it feels pretty soft, possibly not quite as course as the nylon pony hair most people use, but I cant be sure.

there not very long though, since there only meant to be used as like decorative extensions, but if I had a working printer id be very tempted to use them. I think they were marked $8 or 9.99 and there seemed to be many different widths of sheets

has anyone actually seen or tried this? xD it would be really neat to have a pony with whacky designs printed into its hair Poke Tounge

That could be really useful if it actually worked. But the hair looks awfully stiff. Laugh I'd like to see how well it copes with combing..

I found a review on this page:
Pocket-lint hair review

It has lots of pictures. Teaser:

this could be a way to sort-of-restoring berrytown/meadowsweet-families hair Smile at least temporary.

wow that does look pretty stiff! but im wondering if it just needs to be combed out, also i have a feeling you would never be able to get this hair wet, because I dont think printer ink is very durable?

The reason i think it might need to be combed out is, they probably use some sort of mild adhesive to get it to stick to the paper, to keep it in place sort of? I know when I got one of my monsterhigh clawdeen dolls (the one with the green hair) her hair was stiff as a board untill i combed it out a bit.

Reminds me of those tiger stripe hair extensions the scene kids like to wear.

Interesting. . .

I just saw this dolls at TRU but I didn't really pay much attention to it; I'll have to give it a second look. Smile

I agree with the adhesive-backing theory, it would probably make sense for them to have it affixed to the paper somehow, but a good brush should help. I think it would be a great idea, if only for temporary pony wear. It might be difficult for customs though because its not made to last very long. All in all, it seems like a cute idea and I would love to get some to play around with sometime Happy Pony

I'd be afraid the printer ink would stain the pony. Totally want some for my hair though. I love me some leopard print!

This would be my worry as well, most people have ink jet printers and at least on normal paper if there is even a drop of water you've got big problems.
